Rest is part of the process.
There is more to life than your to-do list or constantly doing, producing, and achieving. And yet sometimes that is all our days, weeks, months are full of.
We have all heard the phrase “you can’t fill from an empty cup.” Meaning that we cannot just keep going and doing like we are robots. That in order to do the things we need to do each day, we need to rest and recharge. We can’t keep going from a depleted state, and yet this is often what is normalized and even celebrated in our society.
What if we shifted our perspective? That rest doesn’t have to be earned and we don’t have to put ourselves and our needs last. That rest is simply part of the process. That creating more space for it is necessary. That actually resting and recharging helps us to show up as our best selves. It helps us to gain more energy, clarity, and focus to actually do all the things we need.
