Strength in stillness.

“Water is the softest thing, yet it can penetrate mountains and Earth. This shows clearly the principle of softness overcoming hardness.”- Lao Tzu

What if the qualities once perceived as “weak” are actually superpowers? Our stillness so that we can better listen, understand, and give ourselves what we need. The strength in our softness. Our slow, steady, and consistent pace that gets us to our destination, forward one step at a time.

When we become still and get quiet, we give ourselves time to process and gain clarity. Here we can see what we really need. Here we can respond instead of react.

Our softness means we can be more flexible and adapt to the challenges of life. Hardness implies tough, brittle, sharp edges, that can snap like a dry branch under pressure. Instead softness means we can adapt and change. We can bend without breaking. There is resilience in our softness.

When we move at a steady pace instead of rushing, we can often go further. Moving too fast leads to overwhelm and burnout. When we slow down the journey we are able to stay consistent and reach our goal, little by little.

What is the antidote to our modern society? The one that rewards work, burnout, consumption, competition. That leaves many of us feeling more disconnected, overwhelmed, and lonely. Maybe it’s a slower pace. Maybe it’s letting go of something. Maybe it’s saying no to something. Maybe it’s saying yes to something. Maybe it’s redefining what success looks like and means to you.

What if our strength is in our ability to slow down, be still, be soft?
