Being a beginner.

Being a beginner can be challenging. It can feel intimidating, scary, uncomfortable.

Why? You are trying something you have potentially never done before and don’t know what to expect. You might feel nervous or afraid of looking silly.

I completely understand and have been there before myself. In fact, everyone in class with you understands because at some point we were all beginners.

I have the privilege of teaching many beginners in my classes and I love this opportunity to get people excited and enjoying movement in a way they perhaps haven’t experienced before.

Class is a judgement-free zone where each time you can show up and try your best, whatever that looks like for you each day. And don’t worry, other people in class are more worried about themselves and won’t be thinking about or judging you.

Being a beginner might actually be harder in the short term. Why? If you are new to movement or haven’t moved in awhile, you might actually feel sore or more tired after class.

The trick is to trust the process and stick with it. Keep showing up for yourself. You likely won’t notice a big difference right away, and that’s okay. The benefits come with time and they are worth sticking around for.

Movement is a long term goal, hopefully for the rest of your life.
